By no means does New York City have a shortage of fitness classes. However, after five years of spinning across the city, avid cycling fan Briana Owens decided there was a void - that she was meant to fill. Balancing her full-time job (Bri works in advertising) with receiving her certification in spin required equals parts hustle and muscle.
The void? D I V E R S I T Y!
Briana wanted to create an experience specifically with women of color in mind, while still attracting a diverse crowd of women — and men. In that vein, Spiked Spin was created. “Spiked Spin was founded in response to the lack of diversity within the boutique fitness industry,” she explains. “Spinning provides a personal experience, while being group oriented. It allows an inward escape, while demanding a level of presence within the moment. I’ve NEVER felt anywhere else, and this is the experience I want to bring to others, especially to people who look like me.”
Spiked Spin classes are packed with a diverse array of young women and men committed to getting their bodies and lives #Spiked!
